Vegemite under 100mls for carry on

I contacted the makers 6 months ago suggesting that they should make 100ml tubes of vegemite. Probably best if people fill out the contact form suggesting the same thing.

As an aside, I lived in Bangkok for over 20 years and over that time I probably entered through DMK/BKK well over 100 times. Only once was I stopped for a random Customs inspection. I had just returned from Australia after "resupply" trip. Despite my best endeavors, I could not explain to the officer what the jar of Vegemite was, that he had found in my bag. Obviously the situation was too much for him, so with typical Thainess, he rolled his eyes, muttered "Mai pen rai" ( nevermind ) and waved me on my way...... with no mention of the 6 bottles of OZ wine I was also carrying !!
 
Ha funny this, I flew with the family before Xmas and packed a jar (small one) for my son who loves Vegemite, completely forgot about it, anyway got pulled up at Security....

They took it off us and he was in tears about it.

If your flying to the UK, Tesco's sell it for £2.20 or £1.50 with a club card.

Ha, I'd forgotten about the maple syrup! Similar story to @RooFlyer except my travel buddy wasn't prepared to give it up. She hot-footed back to check-in where multiple staff assisted her in finding a packing box and checking it through. From my perspective -- and likely all the people waiting...

Some years ago, I was passing through Toronto airport for a domestic flight.

I had absent-mindedly put my tube of Vegemite in my hand luggage, rather than my checked bag. When I got to Security, I was pulled up and my Vegemite was removed. After some to and fro with the Security lady, I threw my hands up, said - "C'mon, I'm Australian; I travel with Vegemite".
She looked at me in surprise, then shrugged and put it back in my bag. :)
 
Can you smear Vegemite in a circle on the ground to ward off evil creatures (for example the offenders from the bulkehead-feet thread) in the same way you can the granulated salt that it’s a concentrate of?

This sort of thing would be perfect:
Amazon sell this (which I've ordered despite being more then I want) however the shipping is giving me sometime between 22 Dec and 24 Jan (not very helpful).

This is one of several flights so buying a large jar air side in Brisbane is out of the question.

I'll have access to both the Qantas and Air New Zealand lounges so I'm hoping that maybe they might have the small things of vegemite that you'd normally find in the breakfast buffet and I'd ask for a few. Has anyone been through either lounge recently and seen any or happen to know where we can get some small enough Vegemite?

Is that your biggest problem in life. Check on line where you can get same or similar product at desto. . The world is bigger than Vegemite. My wife suggests take a small plastic container filled with your addicted food under 100 mil.

Nah not me buying the pass, I get in as a WP - but still want a bit of vegemite from time to time.....as I admitted in that thread! So it might have been me the poster was complaining about :eek:🤣

Dunno, but Vegemite is the only known repellent for drop bears - smeared around the neck area.

Passed through the Qantas London lounge during breakfast the other day and can confirm they have 20gram glass jars of Vegemite in the buffet.

Oh, note to self to buy one of those small jars to go into my checked luggage on the next trip. They’re actually also hard to find now…😔.

Supermarkets are supersizing things although I’ve not spotted the 950g Tubs yet…
 
If this is for your own consumption, seems to be many suggestions on where you can get small portions. If you are planning on taking this to someone outside Australia for them to try...don't. The stuff is disgusting and anyone that did not grow up on that stuff will likely spit it out. Unless you were thinking of using for road repair...

I didn’t grow up on it … I mean it existed but it’s not something we ever had in the house for eating (it was a soup ingredient - well Promite was).
And I quite like it … goes sooo good smeared really lightly on buttered toasted Turkish.

People don’t like it for the same nonsensical reason Americans don’t like fruit cake (despite how awesome it is) … because they’re told they shouldn’t like it.

...and because they typically smear it on like peanut butter when they're going for their first taste of the stuff (and Aussies are typically happy to sit back in silence and watch them do it for a good laugh).
