I have allocated around 6 days in Vancouver in mid November and have quickly found these:
-Hilton Vancouver Metrotown
-Holiday Inn Downtown
-Comfort Inn Downtown.

I would prefer being closer to the CBD, yet is there anything out there that someone has stayed at? Instead of staying at $150-200 hotels, my max is AUD$130 so that I can spend more time in the US, so I guess I am after any help with great value hotels in this area that anyone know of. I am not a fan of anything below 3 stars though:eek:

Cheers

Your price limit makes it a bit hard for decent downtown hotels. I stayed at the Pacific Pallisades and it was quite good but probably just a bit high for you. The Blue Horizon also looked good. Other than that you could try the Century Plaza but I've seen some less than flattering write-ups. Check Trip Advisor.

I stayed at the Blue Horizon in Jan 2008 and it was very good. The room itself was well appointed, comfortable bed, well heated, outstanding views and when I stayed for 6 nights got a rate of $106 Canadian/night.

Close enough to Downtown that everything was in walking distance. Close to the entertainment districts. The staff were helpful and friendly. I was very impressed and would stay again when I return.

About 9 years ago I stayed 2 or 3 nights at the Rosedale on Robson and found it quite acceptable. I think all 'rooms' have separate bedrooms.

Living area was not exactly huge but perfectly adequate for me.

I just snuck over to Trip Advisor and noticed some wildly conflicting reviews (many more positive than negative), but as I said I found it just fine. Only problem I recall was having to get my electronic room key reset once or twice at reception.

There were a reasonable selection of eating places for breakfast etc. in close proximity.

It's located in the CBD though 2 or 3 blocks from the centre of the CBD. It appears, on the hotel website, to have rooms available in November for CAD134 (~AUD148) - slightly above your target, but not by much. There may be cheaper rates available...

Vancouver hotels seem very expensive. I just booked the Hyatt for mid September via priceline for US$100 which with taxes and conversion = AU145. If you use priceline make sure you read the info on how to best use it at betterbidding and biddingfortravel so you can understand the concept of free bids.
