Today marks the sixth anniversary of the crash of Tanker 134, a C130, near Cooma, doing a drop without a lead in aircraft which is unusual.

Along with the Coulson 737 that crashed in WA 2 years ago, miraculously without loss of life. It was shocking to read some of Coulson’s training and procedures that are quite substandard compared to the level of training and safety that would be required to fly equivalent 737s in an Australian airline. For instance a normal type rating for a pilot to fly a 737 would last at least 3 months, Coulson were doing it in 6 days…….

It’s time Australia had our own nationalised aerial firefighting service so we don’t have rely on an increasingly unreliable foreign nation to supply it based on spare capacity.
