Hi all. I have no status with KF on SQ, however have used my KF number on an upcoming booking PER-SIN-HKG-SIN-PER as I am wanting to use my KF points to upgrade one of the legs to Bus Class. If I simply show my VA WP card at checkin, lounge, gate, will I be entitled to Priority Checkin, Baggage, Boarding and lounge access even though the BP/Booking shows my KF number? Hope this makes sense. Cheers

Depends if you ticket is an SQ or KF ticket. If its KF ticket (Blue1 - Scandinavian airlines subsidiary) then no. if its SQ then yes. VA only has a relationship with SQ, not KF. How you paid for the ticket is not important. If its an SQ ticket then your flight number will start with SQ.

As always im happy to be wrong...

In this case I believe KF stands for KrisFlyer

SQ may insist/try and change the FF # entered if you show them a VA card.

Thanks Quickstatus. Sorry for the confusion - I meant KrisFlyer for KF. The ticket was bought online via the SQ website.

Even better. Then you would IMHO get access as VA Plat. How you pay for the ticket does not really matter - whether points or cash. Velocity as far as I can see says VA WP have access if they are flying SQ. So if you turn up with your SQ boarding pass with WP card you should get in. If you are travelling SQ J you should also get access without relying on VA WP card.

Note in Singapore, the Krisflyer gold lounge is the poormans lounge compared to Silverkris lounge which is for SQ J and above pax. In this case silver is better than gold. Krisflyer gold lounges do not have loos or toilets. Loos are outside...

Let me know if im wrong...

Thanks for the advice. I just hope the check in agent provides the priority tags for the bag and I can use the priority boarding as well - would be very embarrassed if I rocked up at the gate for priority boarding and was sent to the back of the queue in front of everyone

I don't think you'll have a problem. I'm Velocity WP and I flew LHR-xSIN-ADL on SQ in March. I bought a one-way ticket on the SQ website, logging in using my KrisFlyer membership so that it picked up all of my details, then changed the FF Programme to Velocity later on during the booking process. No problems when checking in at the Business counter, and priority tags were attached to all check-in bags. I showed my VA WP card at the Lounge desk in LHR and SIN, and apart from them needing to type in the Velocity number (presumably for back-charging the lounge entry), there were no issues. Priority boarding was also unquestioned; didn't even check my BP of VA WP card to confirm status.........

Thanks Quickstatus, I'm flying SQ through SIN in a couple of weeks so will keep that in mind when visiting the lounge during stopover. Surprised to hear it's the other way around, especially since that SQ gold lounge is the only SQ gold lounge that VA WP's get access to.

Ok so SQ has 2 types of pubs.
Worldwide it's SilverKris. There is no "GoldKris". At SIN airport there is SilverKris and KrisFlyer Gold. (There is no KrisFlyer Silver). KF-G is for standard SQ F-Flyer and VA WP with Y ticket. Sort of like QC. SK is for SQ J and above ticket holders incl VA WP holding These tickets. Sort of like QF Jlounge. KF-G only exists at SIN nowhere else. Elsewhere VA WP can access SK lounge.

Ah I see, thanks for the clarification. So VA WP's don't have access to SIN SK lounge unless travelling in J or above. I had overlooked the "outside of Singapore" text in the lounge access list on the VFF website.

That is correct

Good to hear! I'm Velocity SG and was worried about the priority baggage/checkin when I fly with Mrs C tomorrow to HND xSIN. After this trip thanks to the magic of family pooling I should be WP!
