Travelling from Australia to the United States of America is about to reach a new level of convenience with the beginning of V Australia’s expanded partnership with Delta Air Lines, this Sunday 6th of November 2011.

This means that from Sunday, there will be a greater variety of arrival and departure times to choose from when arranging trans-Pacific travel. For members of Virgin Australia’s loyalty program Velocity, it also means more opportunities to accrue frequent flyer points and access premium lounges.

What’s more, from Sunday all V Australia flights to Los Angeles will arrive at Delta’s T5 terminal at Los Angeles International Airport. This will allow for easier and faster connections within the same terminal to Delta’s network as well as access to new customs and immigration facilities in the T5 terminal.

To celebrate this convenience and more options for your travel with us, V Australia and Delta Air Lines, are giving members of the Australian Frequent Flyer community the opportunity to win 1 x return Business Class ticket to New York and to report back on their trip to the Australian Frequent Flyer community.

That's right, we are asking one of the AFF collective to fly, Business Class to LA with V Australia, experience the new T5 Delta terminal and then fly either First or Business Class with our alliance partner Delta onto New York.

"Why would they give away a flight just cause they changed terminals?" we hear you ask?

Well, frankly, who better than an Australian frequent flyer to experience the change in flying conditions and report back to the AFF community?

This terminal change is just another move that we have brought about this year designed to make the flying experience easier for the frequent flyer. Much like our other time saving initiatives, and as such to enter, tell us in 100 words or less:
Of all the time-saving processes Virgin Australia has implemented this year, which has saved you the most time and why?

Entries will be judged on writing skills as well as product knowledge. Also you will have to be a AFF member to be eligible.

To enter and for more details, visit the competition website here

We are pretty excited to offer up the opportunity to you all. :D

Thanks again for your support.

Note: The prize doesn't include accommodation, so the winner will have flexibility to stay in the US as long as they like, with the travel period being 15 Jan 2012 – 15 Apr 2012.

Note: We have contacted the AFF, and they have approved this post. The Australian Frequent Flyer has no financial interest in this offer and will not be involved in the invitee selection process.

I'd just like to add a brief note. Unlike other competitions, this time our Moderators are permitted to enter. The prize is simply too good to prevent our mods - who are all volunteers - from having the opportunity to enter. The winner will be selected by Virgin Australia with no input from AFF. Thanks Virgin for this great prize!

What a fantastic offer for the AFF community.

Well done Virgin Australia for continuing to improve the customer experience and this gesture to AFF.

Great idea @VirginAustralia!!!
I love how good a job you've done engaging with AFF members.

....now if only the double SC offer applied too...

Do we get points and SC's if we win the prize - just asking. it would be great to win

Click on the link ... nope. Which is entirely fair enough.

Great competition, now just to work out what to write.

Pity it finishes about 2 weeks too early as I was planning to go to the US in April to attend a Flyertalk event in Austin, Texas, I might just have to go to the US twice next year. :)

You're dreaming again:!: :D

WOW! This is an outstanding prize - love the flexibility of the travel dates as well. :) Will have to think of a good entry!

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

Is it from any port, or do we have to make our own way to SYD-centric Australia?

Edit: Answered

9 Prize: There is one prize to be won. At the end of the Competition Period, the winning entry, will receive 1 X return Business Class V Australia ticket from the Australian port of their choice to Los Angeles. Virgin Australia will provide the connecting flight to Brisbane, Sydney or Melbourne airport if these are not his/her closest airport.

Now will that be in PE? :)

Damn - will have to put my creative thinking cap on.......

And I have a QF flight to the US in that exact travel period......... Can easily cancel ;)

On the first part of this topic (ie. T5 rather than the competition) - what's the deal with lounge access? Will there be DL lounge access for Plat/Gold/J-class when departing LA on VA?
