Is there any plan to open a VA lounge at MCY. We now have Air New Zealand doing seasonal flights and all flights I do on VA appear pretty full. There are plans to upgrade airport soon. I do many flights from here and only getting 50% benefit of my longe access. Even check in staff today commented that they too wish there was a lounge here.

I wouldn't expect VA to put in a lounge in the foreseeable future . MCY is primarily a leisure port with generally only has 2 VA flights a day , 1-2(Sat) x SYD 1 x MEL. The NZ flights are only twice a week for the seasonal period of around 3-4 months. IMO , flights would have to dramatically increase for VA to invest in any sort of lounge facilities.

There was a thread on AFF some months ago where we discussed the same about my local port (ABX). It's almost certainly not viable for any one carrier to put in their own lounge with only a few flights per day. The local authority would be the only one with sufficient scale to make it work... But I doubt they'd want to.

A nice low cost solution for Virgin would be put in a Koru Express style lounge. I can see something like that working well in the smaller ports (Like MCY)... Just so long as they don't keep the horrid "no guests" restriction.

Nowhere really to put a lounge now. Many moons ago there was a lounge-where the toilets are now.Started our first J RTW there >20 years ago.I think that it was an airport lounge rather than QF or AN.

I think the Novotel Twin waters had a 'lounge' back in the 90's.

Whilst one can take J class to MCY which in some ways does improve its candidacy for a Lounge, given the low passenger numbers (regardless of loads, on the average day a maximum of 360 VA pax depart), I'd imagine it is well down the list. A few larger ports such as TSV, ROK and GLT, as well as the WA ports will get Lounges before MCY is even considered, lest VA expand dramatically at this airport.
