I had to call Velocity Customer Service today as I had not received my physical membership card. During the conversation about my next flight , I was informed that there is no VA lounge at Gold Coast Airport. Not sure how correct is that information.

I have 3.5 hours layover and it will be sad not to have any VA operated lounge.

Has anyone recently used the VA lounge at OOL if it exists ?

Thanks for your time.

If there is no lounge there then I don't know where I was waiting for 2.5 hours last year LOL
There is 100% a lounge there and it is quite nice too, had better food offerings than Sydney usually does.

I was there last week so unless it's vanished since then you will be fine. The confusion might be because the lounge is before immigration on the domestic side so if you're flying internationally you will need to allow extra time to clear passport control before your flight.

I used it two weeks ago. The food was basically the same as Sydney, as I'd visited them both same day.

Yes , I will have to catch the next flight to AKL. The layover time is 3.5 hours , so how much time will I have to spend at the lounge ?

You should be fine with spending 2.5-3 hours in the lounge. IIRC they call the flight early enough to allow time to clear immigration but I would check with the lounge staff on the day because it also depends how many flights are leaving around that time.

They'll call the AKL flight from the lounge about an hour before scheduled departure.

The lounge is as the opposite end of the terminal building from where the international flights operate.

Thanks , I will have to be attentive!!

You will also have another security check as well as immigration

Another +1 on the lounge at OOL. It's not very big but it's rarely crowded and the beer is just as cold there as anywhere else (and if you're flying out of OOL you probably have more chance of actually having the beer than on normal business flight).

Much prefer it over sydney lounge. They seem to have more cider options (4 or 5) which is my go to drink in a lounge with no spirits. And their pumpkin soup is always good, with warm fresh bread rolls too :)

Unfortunately as I live is sydney I'm almost always in the sydney lounge in the mornings or occasionally lunch time. Have never got to experience their dinner offerings yet.

The other way around for me... Is the upstairs lounge open in the morning?

I've never observed it to be. Another thing I have wondered about lol

I've seen upstairs open in the AM - but the Sydney lounge was absolutely packed at the time. It's usually open in the afternoon/evening peak when I've been in there.

I'm assuming upstairs doesn't open unless their lounge pax counter hits some threshold - and then it opens and stays open unless the counter drops below another threshold ?

It's quieter upstairs usually.

We were there in late January. To be clear, its the Virgin lounge at domestic terminal near Gate 1 & 2. The lounge is upstairs with stairs and also a lift to take you there. The lounge itself is very nice and I echo the views of other posters here on how good it is despite its smallish size.
