Interesting you have had points turn up so soon. I was hunting for this thread to ask the question about how long it takes to post points. I purchased a ticket on Delta using it on 17 August and still no points showing up.

I'm wondering if it is monthly like Virgin Money, for instance.

Am quite pleased at how quickly purchases show up on this card. Pretty much instantly. Also the pending transactions are good to see as well, with the expiration meaning the transactions will go through, or if it's just a hold, the funds will be released.

I had a look at REV's other prepaid cards and found a few interesting things. One you can load with a recharge pack obtained from the post office and other places that sell gift cards, and the other card can be reloaded using another credit card.

A shame Velocity hasn't added another option other than BPay and POLi. I still want to be able to do a BSB desposit and a Paypal one as well, but realize I'm probably in the minority in wanting that.

The card is also 3D Secure which means Verified by VISA. This comes in handy for online purchases as some won't accept pre-paid cards at all. So far havn't found any places that don't accept the Velocity one.

I was just reading the FAQs. It says that points are credited on a monthly basis according to when your card was activated.

markis10's post then presumes that his transaction was in the last monthly run. Is it a calendar month, or 15th of the month run I wonder??

Reading between the lines from the FAQ, everyone's got a different month depending on when you activated your card.

Just received my card in the mail today. Interestingly, no news of QF's yet. I wonder who really came up with the idea first?

Qantas started to send them out two days ago and mention on the site is progressive with most getting them by October end.

Interesting to see whether VA responds on the fee front (load fee and FX fee) given QF seems much better on this.

As for who's idea.
Both are copying NZ.

I just accessed the iPhone app to check my balance & when accessing my history, I got an unknown error.

I ordered my card on Saturday. Frustratingly, you can only load with AUD. I have a travelex card with quite an amount of USD on it and wanted to transfer to the global wallet, but was told I would need to transfer back to AUD and then load and then to USD. I know one counteracts the other, but I get charged fees for both transfers. Thought they might have a promotion to get people out of travelex card and into global wallet, but alas, no.

Would be good if they kicked it up a notch ..... when booking a flight and it comes to the payment page, they gave you the option to pay with the global wallet card.
Shouldn't be that hard to do seeing the linked Velocity membership number and password would have been entered earlier in the booking process.

Im late to the party with this because I always assumed this card would carry the types of fees and charges that would make it pointless and looking at the fees and charges on the GW website my assumptions were confirmed.

Can I just ask someone to confirm there is no point in using this for FX over my 28 degrees card? (which I absolutely LOVE).

You can put the card number in as you would for a normal card.

I think VA/VFF are having enough trouble with their websites as it is.

As an aside, the other night I made a hotel booking using the virtual card. It was handy because I didn't have my wallet to hand (it was in another room) but I did have my phone with the app installed with me.

The only sensible use of this card is to lock in the current exchange rate...assuming you think it will fall later. Even then you have to factor in the poor exchange rates offered when loading another currency. Otherwise you'd be mad / sucked in by the marketing not to use a free option like 28 degrees or Citibank plus.

Thanks Baz. I haven't really considered the Citibank Plus as I've been very happy with my 28 degrees. The only real difference I can see between the two is that 28D is a credit card and CB+ is a debit card? Otherwise they work exactly the same?

Im sure there will be loads of people who think this Global Wallet is amazing simply because they don't know what other options there are out there. They're probably the same people who pay the $7.70 CC fee when booking a one-way $79 sale fare because they earn 2 x VFF points per dollar spent with VA even though they could use POLI (158 points for $7.70 is appalling value in my book!).
