I have been doing some domestic J sectors over the last few months. As I need gluten free meals I have been disappointed that this has not been incorporated into the product.

I have discovered however, that the Cabin Supervisor has a booklet of all the meals and their ingredients. There have been a couple of sectors where we have checked the ingredients and they appear gluten free and I have "survived" eating them.

So if you need gluten free meals there are some options, but obviously they are not guaranteed as such.

Something that Virgin Aust needs to sort out.

Also disappointing that Luke Mangan has not worked out all the options, I have found his Sydney Restaurant Glasses very good for gluten free people. As an example yesterday, the dressing for the salad (basically a vinaigrette), they had added wheat so it is can not be used by Gluten Free people, and there is no need to add wheat to that type of product.

Something QLD could improve on too. I find it difficult to find anything to eat in the sunshine state that isn't laden with a wheat product. Overall. I agree it isn't hard to make a meal that isn't based on wheat. Just take out pasta and bread and you're fine. Unfortunately such meals generally include a much more expensive ingredient, meat, instead and hence the reason why you'll find lots of meals (everywhere) based on good old gluten with it's ability to swell in the stomach and intestines and create the illusion of satiation.

Re: Dressing, I think you'll find these are bog standard issue from a catering company, not a Luke Mangan special, hence the reason why it's got gluten in it as a thickener.

Re: Glasshouse. I've not bothered to ever go there. I'm scared I'll be served corned beef and pickles and charged $500 for the pleasure.
