Hi All,

I've booked a business class seat on a Virgin flight through to Abu Dhabi in December, I'll then be finishing my journey to LHR on Etihad.

I've been allocated seat 5C on the 777-300ER. I understand that row 5 is quite private, as it's on it's own and behind a curtain. I'm wondering if it feels at all claustrophobic and how it might feel to be curtained in with a stranger as I'm flying solo.

Other seats seem to be available. What are people's thoughts on the row 5 seats?

Cheers,

Neil

I really liked it, didnt find it claustrophobic, though I feel it might be a bit awkward with a stranger...

I didn't find it claustrophobic but I do suggest get the aisle seat because I found the window seat a total PITA having to climb over hubbys legs to get out, a strangers would be worse.

God I hate those seats, cant wait till they are gone!

I take 5D when travelling solo - 5F and 5G has often been a couple so nobody has to climb over me.

Love 5A and 5C as a couple though.

SeatGuru shows 5C as an aisle seat, so I'd not need to clamber. Have just made it to platinum, so am wondering if VA will be nice and give me an empty seat next to me rather than a stranger.

I think the 777 refit to new seat format has been delayed until next year now. The remainder of my trip is in Etihad's newer A380 business seats, but it's also the shorter of the two legs back to the UK.

Yes but someone else might be clambering over you.

VA won't block a seat in row 5 unless the business cabin (and then specifically row 5) has free seats, and those specific seats haven't been selected by other WPs.

Club Lounge members will get priority. If you're in a window seat in row 5, you're probably the highest status pax in the cabin so a small chance you'll be in luck and no one will be allocated the aisle seat.

If you're on the aisle, you'll likely be allocated a neighbour on the window seat.

I've only just made platinum in the days since booking, so expect my gold status at the time wasn't sufficient enough to get me the best treatment. Etihad's A388 layout better, with direct aisle access for everyone. I'll be flying back in first with Qantas, shouldn't have to worry about anyone clambering over me then!
