Hello Friends.

This is my first long haul VA flight (I have been a loyal one world lad up till now). and was looking for some help.

Being tall and booked in economy I am looking at buying exit row seats on my flight from BNE-LAX and return.

From extensive google searching I have seen that row 26 is the better option for this tall guy and so my question revolves around these seats.

when on QF long haul, I have noticed the A seat in the exit row has a protruding door, making leg room even less than that of those in standard seats, and was wondering if anyone knows if this is the same case for VA 777-300ER layouts.
.
The reason I am looking at A rather than C is that when in C I have found to be awoken by bumps from passengers, staff and carts when in this seat, and also was thinking that in A i could put a pillow up and sleep against the side.

Also on QF, the space in front of exit row seats is plenty, enough for one to stretch their legs right out and still enough for people to walk in front of you, is the space similar on the VA configuration?

I thankyou you for taking the time to read, and hope there is someone out there who has flown recently on of these birds that can share some knowledge.

26 is the row where the line forms for the toilets.

I suppose it depends on how tall you are. I don't find the leg room too bad, although the aisle does have the AV unit which is a bit uncomfortable. The seats are darn uncomfortably hard, but it's not that long.

20 is the way to go although I had an as..o.e with one of those anti-recline things last week. It's still not too bad.

I have taken this seat on a number of flights. Yes, the door does protrude in but for me (I am about 167cm), I found there was plenty of room - i.e. I could only just reach it with the bottom of my foot.

Yes it is near the toilet but never had too much of an issue with toilet queues - only real issue was last trip with the child nearby vomiting and her father wafting the bag past me. That in mind - keep some vicks etc handy - especially as in my case the crew could not find any air freshener!

There is plenty of space in front of the seat - even with stretched legs.

Cheers.

It seems it is not like the QF flights I have taken over with it being such a small space in front of that seat.
I guess I will give it a go, I am only a few cm's taller, so can't see the foot room being an issue .. thanks for the reply and info :)
