The international arm was rebranded Virgin Australia almost 8 months ago, maybe a thread name change is in order? ;)
 
So no news on the usual Australian 'news' websites i see!

Of course not, given it's a VA flight they need time to confirm their sources, and determine if it's news worthy. 7 hours after the event is just not quite enough time to do that in as this is VA not QF.
