For something different you can now fly from SYD to LAX (via AKL and PPT) and onwards to CDG (on AA) for 60,000pts (in Y).

Unfortunately only less than 24 hours. It would be difficult to do that in Tahiti because flights are not daily.

Still, I'd rather hop from the east coast here to LAX via AKL and PPT than do a direct leg to LAX from Australia. Depends on how much time one has to spare, I suppose.

Use multi-city tool and make sure you get a day (eg Tuesday) when AKL-PPT is operating.
