hello all - I'm a newbie
i've had to postpone an economy class trip from Melb to NY on the A380 recently and Qantas issued me with a voucher. thats all ok. however I wanted to rebook my flight and i would like to upgrade to prem economy using the voucher however when I try to do this online only lists the economy fare options. now correct me if i'm wrong but using the voucher you have to select a fare equal or greater than the initial booking and because I'm upgrading this should be an option... well you think so. however after ringing the QFF hotline the lovely lady on the other end said i can upgrade however as the booking was made for 2 people it was going to cost me an additional $160 admin booking fee because she had to do it at her end. is there anyway around this because i feel i'm quite capable of making the booking myself and can't justfy why Qantas should charge me a fee for the privilage of not only flying with them but charging me additional funds on top of the amount i was already going to pay initially to upgrade the flight.
any suggestions on getting around this?
thanks

I had an issue with changing a QF flight online and the new fare was actually lower than the fare I had paid, hence the website was offering me a refund, but would always crash before issuing the refund. I called QF WP desk, was told I had to pay an admin fee, of which I refused say, I said, if your website could offer me the service, I wouldn't have called...after a 40 min wait, they agreed there was an error on the website and waived the fee. They said the wait was due to the IT department verifying the error...must have been outsourced...haha

FWIW....Cheers John

really in the scheme of things $160 is not that much - put it down to a lesson for next time when changing flights.

i recently had to change a domestic booking and was not allowed to book a cheaper fare than that originally booked - the reason given (which i did not really accept but i let it go) was that with a qf credit you have to spend it all at once and can;t leave anything behind evn if you are willing to give it to qf.

this silly rule cost me $120

 how does this work? The voucher says you can only select a fare that is equal to or higher than the value of the voucher.

Did it origianlly display a higher fare which then came back lower prompting a refund?

An increased QF profit $120
DJ system is much fairer in that you can use part of a credit and later use the balance.
