Hi All,

My QF gold expires in a few months and i'm not likely to make the 600 SCs, so I'm taking an AA plat challenge to keep the lounge access for the rest of the year.

When I'm taking the plat challenge, i'll obviously be crediting to AA, so my boarding pass will show no status rather than the current Sapphire/Gold.

My question is, can I still use my QF gold card to enter the admirals clubs and BA terraces lounges at LHR even though i'm not crediting to my QFF account? My qualifying flights will take me through MIA and LHR so would like to use the lounges there if possible.

Thanks for your advice

James

Since doing the Plat challenge I've been doing the reverse of this without problem - Crediting to QF and flashing my AA Plat card at the QC for access - no questions or queries.

I've even done an ODU on a BP that is crediting to AA using points from my QF account - not even a query from the QC staff.

If you have status and presumably a reasonable number of miles on AA why would you keep crediting to QF if no status? Unless it is non-earning on AA - would generally earn same or more on AA and AA miles are worth more than QF miles.

QF upgrades are more important to me than award flights.

Plus, the bulk of my points come from a credit card so i'd just be fracturing my earnings as i'm not a high points earner.

I'm doing the same thing at the moment, without issue.
The only thing is the preferred boarding on AA, as you end up with a group number rather than Sapphire on the boarding pass (In Poverty Class). Not a big deal but can be painful on full flights.

Hi Rob,

Yes the pre-boarding is a big bonus, especially considering the amount and size of carry-ons people here in the US cram into the overhead bins. It's insane. If you're not on quickly, nowhere else for your bag except under your feet (or, worse, having to check it).

Ah well, only a short term pain for a long term gain, once the challenge is over. :)

Good luck with your plat challenge.
