Using points for J UK? [Short Notice - Family Death]

I did read it.
I'm not second guessing at all.

I've read that ba site is far better than Qantas on multiple occasions.

So I'm asking

BA is easier to search multiple days, with QF you need to 'go back' and enter in things like the desired class again. BA also seems to show more combinations.

QF may show more availability, but it can be a case of knowing where and how to look. Entering in Australia-Europe I have never seen Finnair options come up for example. But if you restrict your search to just a Finnair Asian gateway, it might show (then add the QF connector to Asia)

BA won't show Emirates of course.

Thanks. That's a very interesting comment you made. I've read on multiple occasions on this forum that ba is better for overall availabikity. Following this advice my last trip I searched Qantas and had no luck at all. But searched ba and came back with a few options.. But now two people on here have said the opposite.

I might need to go back to those posts and see what it's all about

Things have changed over the last few months. Qantas used to omit options on certain partner airlines, e.g. JL, MH, S7, LA etc. The website has improved recently though and all Oneworld options are now shown. That said, the QF site doesn't automatically show all possible routings.

Until recently QF didn't show JL for example. So it pretty much limited your flights to/from Asia to Qantas or Cathay (and I guess BA too). BA would show CX, JL, and QF.

BA used to be easier to use. And will often show combinations where QF won't. For example SIN-HKG-PVG BA will show lots of combinations, but QF might show individual flights only.

But ultimately, where they show combinations or individual sectors, BA and QF will have the same availability (except of course for EK).

Both BA and QF's tool can show phantom CX availability though. Which is where JL's clunky and non-user-friendly tool comes in.

Ahh thanks guys. Starting to make sense.
Looks like it's best to look at both sites

Absolutely! And then you'll work out which sites are best to use first. It's a bit like booking Lifemiles tickets... I always start with United to see potential space and combinations, then head to LM to see if they match the availability. Saves a lot of time.
