I have an upcoming trip on Air NZ - not so concerned about the long haul legs as I am Gold VFF so get the benefits associated with that.

However my internal US flights (SFO- EWR - SFO) are on United which VFF does not cover. I have been able to get a Silver status match with Mileage Plus - so am eligible for Economy Plus on check in, potential for upgrade to First, priority boarding, screening etc etc

But! How do I get both of these on my reservation to ensure my points and credits go to VFF for the Air NZ legs but I get Recognition on United?

Also - is it possible that once I have checked in but before my United flight leaves, I can switch my Mileage Plus number for my Airpoints one? I have an active balance on Airpoints already.

Thanks in advance!

I think it should be possible to attach one frequent flyer number to the booking, then on check-in ask to have the number of the other program attached & the other removed?

This.

Recently did a BA itin where I used my QF status to score the freebies and then just changed the number at check in (or the lounge or gate)

I'd go to the UA website & add in your UA ffn now so you can pre-allocate your econony plus seating.

If you don't have your UA pnr you could try www.checkmytrip.com using your main booking number or call whoever made the booking & ask them for it.

Does UA silver give you free bags? If so, you'll need the UA number in the booking at the time of checkin. Ditto to be in the running for any op-ups although I think your chances are pretty slim TBH.

You could also credit UA flights to AV LM but double check what fare bucket UA books into eg K, Q, V class etc & that the ff program gives you points for that class.

My understanding is the same a mattg's comment above. The current FF number (VA) in booking needs to be deleted first - then add the UA FF number, then reverse when you have finished your UA sectors. Seat selection should be made at the beginning and checked when you re-fresh the FF number in the booking

FQTV (FF numbers) can be done per sector on a PNR. You may need to find an agent who is capable of doing this / knows the commands.
