I am trying to book a one way Bus. class from Europe back to Perth using Asia Miles 23-30 Ag 2016 but he first leg with Qatar always shows full even though the Doha to Perth show seats. I have tried ex London, Paris, Munch, Frankfurt, Athens, Amsterdam and Istanbul but they always show fully booked with Qatar. Does anyone know if Qatar normally open up more seats near to departure? I have not used Asia Miles before, can anyone help?

Qatar award availability is a bit of a funny one, as award availability comes and goes. I wouldn't be too confident about them releasing award availability later, though I guess it could be possible.

What have you been using to search - the Qantas website? Sometimes the QF engine omits certain QR flights. Perhaps try searching on the British Airways website instead.

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

I just had a quick look and there is a Business seat from Berlin to Doha on 27 August. Couldn't find a Business award for a connecting flight to Perth, but there is a Business seat on the Qatar flight to Adelaide from Doha the next day.

These flights could also be booked from London using Asia Miles in J:

25 Aug MH3/MH125
26 Aug CX250/CX171

(There may be others - these are just a couple that I found)

I have never used Asia Miles but having a quick look it seems that there are no seats for those dates direct to Perth from Doha only via Adelaide. There are seats from Europe to Doha but when you try to book on-line Europe to Perth via Doha the lack of direct flights causes the message that flights are full. I tried from Rome to Doha (because I did that flight earlier this week) and certainly there were flights. I don't know whether the on-line booking engine can't handle complex routes eg FCO-DOH-ADL-PER or whether their rather complicated system of awards doesn't allow this redemption. Presumably you could try finding appropriate flights sector by sector and then contact them to see if they can be booked as one award.
I am thinking of moving some credit card points to Asia Miles so keen to understand their system but not today as I am too jet lagged!

I think its been said before about QR flights out of Perth that the QF site is set to hide them so that bookings are pushed to EK who they have the partnership with. I have had trouble in the past even finding Doha on QFs list of destinations, and this is a OW airline.

Hi Mattg, Thanks for your help. I have not been looking at the Qantas website at all. I have Westpac Altitude Points I want to use and can only transfer them across to Malaysia, Singapore, Virgin or Asia Miles. I thought there would be more options with Asia Miles. Thanks for the search and find. I was surprised you found MH in business- that has never come up for me. I'll have another look. Thanks again.
