Hopefully someone on here can provide some advice.. Thinking to book a SC run in the LOTFAP IN January. Planning to do it at the end of the holiday and time it so I finish off the run in the morning and then leave LAX on QF the same day in the night..

If there are winter disruptions to flights and i haven't yet reached my turn around point and it looks like I won't be able to complete all the flights and get back to LAX in time to head home. Will AA be flexible in getting me back to LAX as direct as possible?

cheers gogo

Well if you're delayed assume that thousands of other people will be as well. Whilst your WP status will get you near the front of the line it can't open up a non-existent seat.

Suggest you leave at least a couple of days between your status runs and your flight home when travelling in winter.

IME it has always been the return (ie back to LAX) that has encountered/risked delays due to IRROPS etc.

I would suspect if you are planning on arriving at LAX in the morning then it's a decent buffer, but that said I personally would leave a day buffer prior to an important flight such as an international departure.

Just in case :)

Is this a different trip from the one to YYC where you're departing LAX in F on EK?

Also depends on how critical it is you make the QF flight. If a couple of days delay coming home doesn't matter, you can always roll the dice.

I wouldn't do it. Save the run for the spring. The weather can be very bad here January to March and when it does go feral it will certainly stuff the whole thing.

It is a role of the dice and if that's what you are into, go for it. Does seem a big gamble though.

You can always roll the dice remembering that if due to irrops, you can ask to be re-routed via the most direct route (avoiding ORD in the process) and then claim ORC...

I have had a change of plans in the last few weeks and cancelled that booking. :( A friend invited me to Japan for some more snowboarding after my Canada/USA trip... Thought it would be rude to say no.. ;)

Indeed it would.

Now some Avianca LM could possibly come in handy ex the USA for a one way J redemption to that little US Territory just south of the land of the rising sun.
