Does Qantas enforce their bag size limits?

I'm travelling to the US soon with lots of baggage. For a Silver FF member in economy the limits are 3 pieces, with "Total dimensions of the 3 pieces must not exceed 405cm (159in) ... with no 1 piece exceeding 158cm (62in)."

It seems that size is the binding constraint. I can usually fit around 23kg in a 158cm bag, and many large suitcases are larger than 158cm.
