This basically covers all the DJ fleet of 50+ aircraft and about 40 for QF.
Hopefully this can be done on normal overnight checks otherwise is could cause some serious flight disruptions

US Orders Emergency Checks On Newer Boeing 737s

US aviation authorities have ordered emergency inspections of newer model Boeing 737 airliners in response to last week's explosion and fire that destroyed a China Airlines plane in Japan, officials said on Monday.

Yes, its a very simple inspection that takes very little effort or time and is not expected to impact any schedules for DJ or QF. It really just entails looking for lose or missing screws in and around the flaps. It is thought that a loose screw may have become jammed in the flap mechanism and caused a puncture/rupture of a wing fuel tank resulting in the recent Air China fire.

Slats, not flaps (front vs rear of wing).

Sounds like a freak accident to me, but since the preventive inspection is so simple it's certainly worth implementing.
