Hi all, I'm looking at booking a holiday to the US however I have a conviction for importing prohibited import (testosterone) in 2012. Now the charge only states importing prohibited import not what the import is which leads me to my questions - does US immigration have access to the details of the charges or just only what you were charged with? And will these charges instantly show on the border computer when I go to enter the states or do they only do criminal record checks on a case by case basis?
From what I understand importing a prohibited import is not a charge which would exclude one from admission to the US however as the details of the charge relate to what could be classed as a controlled substance then the detail of the charge may. The charge is a very general charge and would be the same as importing laser pointers or viagras or something that would not be a controlled substance.
What are the chances of the border even seeing the charges and if so how in depth will they investigate the details?
I know it is not ideal circumstances howeveri have family now over there which I really want to see
