I have a flight booked in Nov 13 from Syd-Lax and now want to add on a domestic leg to JFK. Can I do this thru Qantas?

That far in advance you might find it less expensive to book on aa.com or with a TA. Though the AA fare classes night not credit to QF.
I suspect that with QF a (re)booking (+ fees) might be required.

Happy wandering

If you want to fly QF LAX-JFK you'll have to ring up. Otherwise you could book direct through AA and potentially get a seat in J or F for a good price (LAX-JFK is a flagship AA domestic route where certain flights have a 3-class offering)
