US Dividend Miles - Award Booking Questions and General Discussion

Re: US Dividend Miles Buy/Gift Miles 100% bonus - Cheap way for F/J *A Awards

Yeah I saw them come out today. Thats pretty amazing value. Except the specials don't fly out of Perth :(

Hmmm have you tried booking through their website ? Maybe they can put you on a codeshare on VA ?
Or have you already had a look into it ?

Re: US Dividend Miles Buy/Gift Miles 100% bonus - Cheap way for F/J *A Awards

I had a look at their website and the special is only shown for Brisbane, Melbourne or Sydney.
And when i search valid dates from Perth i come up with >$2k fare.
Am I missing something?

No worries anyway - I can't make those dates. I am looking for May next year.

Huh? I think you might be in the wrong thread here as nothing you have said relates to USDM. The prices are exactly the same from every city in Australia no matter where you go. If you want to clear up your question a bit more we can try and answer.

Re: US Dividend Miles Buy/Gift Miles 100% bonus - Cheap way for F/J *A Awards

Folks are finally back from their long trip, which included their magnificent USDM F award which covered both Europe and North America. Well, UA swapped out their aircraft and they were relegated to J rather than F for two sectors (this happened more than two weeks out), but big deal.

A few notes from their experiences:
  • On TG F, they flew the B747, but unlike what I was told from TG customer services, they received Rimowa kits on both sectors (cf. only being given out on A380 sectors; the other sectors got Tumi kits).
  • On their way over, flying BNE-SIN-BKK-LHR (SQ J, TG J, TG F), they had no attendant waiting for them when they landed in BKK. So of course they did the sensible thing and walked to the transit point themselves, cleared security, and walked themselves to the Royal First Lounge, whereupon entry they were then waited upon every second
  • I didn't know that you could preorder TG F menu items for departures from other ports besides BKK. Dad seemed annoyed that he wasn't able to have lobster on his LHR-BKK flight until I explained that it wasn't on the menu because the office idiots had forgotten about it, but because those pax preordered it.

In other news, TG J kits were from Crabtree and Evelyn; and SQ J amenity kits, well, don't exist (but you already knew that).

Dad's a light sleeper and has trouble sleeping on moving vehicles, so he only managed many little naps.

Oh, and I found out another thing Dad and I have in common: we both don't like Dom Perignon. The slight difference - I just don't find Dom Perignon my cup of tea, whereas Dad described it as tasting like acrid p***. It might have put him off trying other champagnes in the future now.

Mum was very happy on the LHR-BKK flight because one of the attendants in the F cabin was able to speak Mandarin, so they conversed in Mandarin during the flight.

Just put the below openjaw on hold for my parents for next year. They've never flown in anything other than economy so I think they are excited (well I'm excited for them) :)

SYD-BKK-CDG Thai F
FCO-FRA-BKK-SYD Thai F (except FCO-FRA is LH J)

So I put this booking on hold on the weekend for my parents, took down the US Airways, TG and LH PNR's for both passengers, but I must have written the US Airways one down wrong as they now say they can't find it. I know the booking is there as I can see it on the TG and LH websites... Any tips on how to find the US Airways PNR? Called US Air and they said they couldn't see anything for that date for my Mothers name....

Re: US Dividend Miles Buy/Gift Miles 100% bonus - Cheap way for F/J *A Awards

I am sure you can check just by using their DM, name and date of departure?

I'm assuming you mean online? I've tried that for both parents, neither show up if just using Name, Date of Travel and USDM #.

I can pull up Dads travel with his US Airways PNR but not Mums.....

Can you pull up the details on checkmytrip using the LH PNR? And have a look and see if it lists any other airline PNRs?

Thanks for the idea... gave it a go and I can pull up both Itins on checkmytrip with the LH PNR and it shows me all the flights inc Thai but only shows the LH PNR, not the Thai or Us Airways :(

Re: US Dividend Miles Buy/Gift Miles 100% bonus - Cheap way for F/J *A Awards

I ended up calling US Airways and gave them passenger name and one of the flight numbers and they looked it up, one of the letters I had was E, when it should have been D....

This came about because Mum called to ticket and pay taxes and they couldn't find hers at all.... obviously I got a better agent that could look it up for me.

Thanks for the help.

Re: US Dividend Miles Buy/Gift Miles 100% bonus - Cheap way for F/J *A Awards

Hi all,

Bit of a stupid question - looking to book a return trip to GUM for departure within a week or so. The availability of award itinerary is confirmed on every sector, and it routes via SIN and NGO.

I've made two calls so far and the agents have said at the outset 'I can't book this, you have too many connections'. I'm guessing the issue is mileage.

Does anyone know what the maximum SYD-GUM-SYD mileage is?

Otherwise, I'm guessing it's simply a matter of perseverance until an agent tickets the routing nonetheless.

Cheers

Should have just been able to login to her account online also and it would be displayed down the bottom of the page.

Just a quickie all. Am looking to use the current share offer and get my dearly beloved and 2 kids awards in j from sunny Brisbane to the uk for June 2014. Unfortunately I'll be in Brasilia enjoying the World Cup so it might make me a bit more popular!!!
Question. Routing via Bangkok or Singapore I seem to be able to see 2 j award seats relatively easily, but after putting in 3 everything dries up. Is there a strategy/routing I should be following to get these, or is it just a question of look, look, look and you may find? I understand thai only release 2 premium seats at a time, but I'm fearful of booking for 2 (wife and kid 1) then not being able to get the extra nipper on the ticket.
Cheers

Book the 2 first (put on hold), then often 2 more seats may release if flying TG, so then do the 3rd booking. Book the wife and child on 1 PNR (place on hold), then try for the 3rd person.

They didn't, nor for my Dads booking which I did have the PNR for.

Re: US Dividend Miles Buy/Gift Miles 100% bonus - Cheap way for F/J *A Awards

Question:

need to redeem 4 x J awards from MEL to Europe (either MXP or IST) next year.

Currently have two accounts one for myself and for my partner. We have shared 50K each to each other already and now sit at 150K and 166K respectively. (using the current promo)

Have created two new accounts for the people that will be joining us making a total of 4. They have 0 miles atm.

What is the best strategy to get to a total of 480K (required number of miles for 4xJ awards). Want to obviously keep the cost at a minimum. Can wait for the Buy 1 get 2 promo if it happens next month maybe?

Any ideas are appreciated!

Re: US Dividend Miles Buy/Gift Miles 100% bonus - Cheap way for F/J *A Awards

You share 50K from your and your partner's account to the two new people, thus you will have 100K, 116K, 100K, 100K respectively.

Wait for the next promotion? where you buy 10k + 10k bonus ..... or buy the remaining points at full price if you need to book ASAP.

Re: US Dividend Miles Buy/Gift Miles 100% bonus - Cheap way for F/J *A Awards

Guys below is a snip from a recent statement:

Dividend Miles Bal.JPG

'To keep your account active earn miles before 07/30/2014' - basically what does this mean? If Div Miles not earnt before that date - account becomes inactive? Miles forfeited? Am a bit confused here.
