US Dividend Miles - Award Booking Questions and General Discussion

Re: US Dividend Miles Buy/Gift Miles 100% bonus - Cheap way for F/J *A Awards

G'day!

I recently joined US Airways but it won't let me buy miles:

[h=3]Please correct the following errors:[/h]
  • The US Airways Dividend Miles account you specified is not eligible to purchase miles.

Is this something you can only do at special times?

Thanks,

Rob
Accounts need to be 12 days old before you can purchase.

You can only buy miles if your account is at least 12 days old.
You need to wait

Re: US Dividend Miles Buy/Gift Miles 100% bonus - Cheap way for F/J *A Awards

So I have a bit of an odd situation:

I have an itinerary on hold that contains JL segments (along with others). When the itinerary was put on hold I checked the itinerary online and everything was correct. I wanted to ticket it then and there but the JL seats which were available were not being released by JL when requested by USDM, so the agent suggested I call back later to ticket it.

A few hours later I rang up to ticket the itinerary and the JL flights have dropped off the itinerary and the agent can see the rest of the (non-JL)itinerary but has no record of the JL flights ever being held.

Those flight no longer have availability as I think I took the last seats.

I'm guessing either:
1) the seats are still being held by USDM (so are not available to anyone else) but have been 'lost' somewhere and USDM cant put them back in my itinerary; or

2) the seats were somehow released from my itinerary and are still making their way back into the JL inventory pool.

Any suggestions? My hold lasts another 24 hours and Im hesitant to cancel the hold and start again (in the hope everything is released into the inventory pool to rebook) as there are multiple airlines and Im guessing each airline will put the seats back into their pool at different times.

What I'm REALLY hoping is that the JL seats aren't gone forever!!

Re: US Dividend Miles Buy/Gift Miles 100% bonus - Cheap way for F/J *A Awards

When I put my flight on hold I had all F seats. When I went back less that 24 hours later to tkt, one flt had dropped back to J and based on advice on AFF I took it (then made a change later on a different date to get the F sector and paid the fee).

I know there was someone else on AFF who lost a complete bkg and had to start again and said to grab what's there at the time. Sorry, I'm too much of a noob to suggest either way - just a couple of experiences. best of luck.

PS, this thread is specifically about bonus pts. There are at 2 others on booking and success.

Is it at all possible that JL seats must be immediately ticketed? Maybe that's what's throwing off the hold ability. Just a wild guess here.

Either that or the agent may not be retrieving the seats correctly, i.e. perhaps they are trying to get new seats on the same flight, when there are "held seats" already.

I don't think so - there's still another (different route) JL flight on the hold itinerary still in place (i.e. it didnt fall off).

I tried to ticket the itinerary as soon as the flights were all found and was unable to (the issue with JL not 'releasing' the seats to them on one flight even though it was available.

I'm checking every few hours but I've got a bad feeling I'm going to have to cancel the itinerary and start all over and hope everything comes back about the same time!

Does SQ has F lounge in SYD? (I assume you fly TG F ;) )

Yes but I didn't bother with it to be honest. At gate lounge just waiting for boarding.

SQ lounge was a nice sanctuary away from the AirNZ lounge. Been two years since my last F flight.. and it looks like it on new F.

I've been to SQ J recently, it's a nice lounge.
I also have a TG F coming soon and was wondering if there is any *A F lounge to use in SYD.
Enjoy your flight :)

In the cabin and I have my first rimowa kit. This should be a good flight.
I was surprised to see those kits on Ebay going for $150 plus... Got four on my trip to paris. That could make my trop $600 cheaper giving me my cheapest every USDM trip.

Crazy money isn't it. I'll keep mine and hopefully get one on the way back. In Bangkok now at a coffee shop trying to stay awake before I go back to the airport.

most of the 'high priced' amenity kits seem to have been offered by one seller... 'florentine' (or something like that). (s)he is the one selling Qantas blankets for $250 that they say were taken 'with permission'. I don't know if they ever sell them at the full asking price.

Have noticed thst, a little strange indeed.

Just had a quick look at the actual sold kits on ebay. Those around $50 get lots of bids, not sure about the other much more expensive ones. I didn't realise so many different airlines have their logos on the Rimowas. Of course, copies cannot be ruled out.
