Hi All AFF experts,
I have a last minute international trip and I am hoping to get to WP by 30 September.
With current Points and US trip booked I will be on 900SC
I have a last minute trip booked to Manila via SIN on J* BIZ MAX $2100. Then I realised that double status points dont count on J* DAMN! Thinking of refunding them and rebooking with QF Y MEL-SYD-MNL RT as same points and shorter flight for $1450.

If anyone has any better ideas of how to do this trip and get more SC while the double SC offer is on I would appreciate yr help, dont mind some extra flying.
Hoping to save my points fr upgrades for the US trip fr my partner and I.

Thanx Guys

CURRENT STATUS: Qantas Silver
QUALIFYING YEAR ENDS: 30 September
STATUS CREDITS EARNED QUALIFYING YTD: 650
REGISTERED PROMOTIONS: Double Status credits till 31 July 11 - YAY!
USUAL BOOKING CLASS: Y Domestic, Y & Y+ International
HOME AIRPORT: MEL
CURRENT POINTS BALANCE: 190K
GOALS: Make WP
POINTS: I like to use for upgrades or flights.
PLANNED TRIPS: MEL-MNL 25-30 July, MEL-LAXNYC/SFO-MEL Y+/Y 13/08-15/09 (225SC) NYC-SFO Y (25SC)

A couple of suggestions.

MEL-SIN Jetstar Star class, you need the airfare that gives points + lounge. 120SCs each way.

So 240SCs for that part of the trip.

I wouldn't go with Qantas on the double SC as business gets you 4 times the SCs compared to discount economy which is especially important on international flights as most things credit to discount Y only.

MEL-SYD-NYC should be 90+25 Y+ the Y for LAX-NYC. 115Scs

SFO-SYD-MEL should be 90+20 = 110SCs assuming Y+ for trans pacific.

Another idea is change your NYC-SFO to an AA instant upgrade fare which would get 120+120 on AA First for $1202.00 AUD.

EWR-DFW-SFO is $1202.00 plus some tax.

240 + 225 + 240 = 705SCs, and then depends on what SIN-MNL credits as. 20 each way or 40 each way.

So you could get there for about $1202 extra dollars less what ever NYC-SFO was going to cost anyway.

Thanks for the feedback, I was surprised that ALL fares including fully flexible were DISCOUNT economy. Be nice if they made similar changes like they have to domestic....

I agree with yr advice and decided to stick with my existing booking get lounge access and comfy flight. Decided to forgo the J* SIN-MNL points and travel with airlines that have better connections (Even in a lounge 7 hours is too much).

Re US trip I will look at changing to the instant upgrade fare if I can from my current ticket. I have 2 questions
1/Can I upgrade ticket its G economy GAIKKU (Couldnt find any fare rules or change fees fr AA)
2/ How do u get 120 + 120 for instant upgrade fare? I worked it out at 150SC for first class in Zone 5

THanks again

Only full Y the most expensive ticket gets full SCs on international. Slack Qantas, unless this could be an enhancement come 24 August.

1. If you already paid for the ticket not sure how you can cancel it, usually best to ask the questions then book the ticket not the other way around.
2. EWR-DFW-SFO so routing via DFW is 120 + 120 SCS, make sure you have 2 different flight numbers.

Having trouble finding the rules for that fare basis but other G class fares are non refundable. You should be able to call your TA and get them to upgrade the fare to a KA0UPPMR which books in P class. That fare is USD1210 and yours must have been around USD600 so about USD600 addcol and a USD150 change fee and then any agency fees offcourse.
