Urgent payment to Qantas booking due to their change from SIN to DXB

Also, its not just the Pacific. I'm nervous about all the flights, just happens that we would do that on the first leg.

The flights I have been quoted on are:
Bris - LAX Qantas QF15
LAX - JFK Qantas QF107
JFK - London Heathrow British Airways BA112
London - Singapore QF3346
Singapore - Brisbane QF52

I guess I'd assume the last two would just be replaced with BA flights? Is that likely? I'm a very nervous flyer so I usually like to know all the details as early as I can.

What type of ticket is this ?
Is a valid Round The World RTW *ONE4 MileageMonkey
BA will continue to fly LHR-SIN
Unsure if QF will keep SIN-BNE, As a wild guess-yes
Reads to me as if FC is putting needless pressure on you. Go elsewhere
A lot of travel agents sell RTW's with a wide range if airlines

I would love to know whether that is how the Flight Centre hold system works vis a vis the QF booking site. i.e, if they hold a seat, and then cancel, the seat only goes back overnight and shows up on Qantas' booking system again at their refresh time. I also wonder how genuine the "Hurry" messages that you see on certain QF fares are, or whether it's just a marketing ploy to get people to lock in their bookings, and then for them to release more seats at that low price.

Generally any held seat that is manually cancelled by an agent or auto-cancelled when it reaches TTL will be added back to the pool and available almost instantly to any agent. I'd imagine the QF website would check live availability with every booking enquiry, rather than refreshing availability periodically, to ensure the seats they are selling are actually available at the price advertised.

Most cheap fares do have to be ticketed with 3-5 days unless an agent can re-hold the seats in the same booking classes.

My suggestion would be for the OP to take their quote to another agent and see if they could match the price and what their ticketing time limit would be.

How about BNE-NYC-EU(FRA/ZRH/BRU)-BNE in J for about $2,000 and in F for about $2,500

New York as the destination, make your own way to and from LA overland maybe. Then a stopover in the EU to travel around there, and finally back to Brisbane. Sure you miss out on SIN but you can save that for the next trip!

That looks like a really interesting option. I'll have to read through, I wonder if it works if we aer unable to book our final dates (due to them being over a year away). Maybe we would just have to date change them.

Hi again, just wanted to say thanks for all the help. We went ahead and booked the flights today. The US Dividend Mile option looked very tempting, and we may try that for the next trip. But for now we have our flights, and will try to get some bonus points from credit card deals to try and fund an upgrade in the mean time.

Really appreciate everyones help! I'm sure I'll be back, I love reading the trip reports. I feel a lot less nervous after reading a few of them last night.
