Upgrading tips for flight purchased on points

Rookie post so pls be kind
Trying to work out anyway to get upgrade to Bus class on a flight Lon to Syd which was purchased with points. Am currently in PE. Any tips?

Who are you flying with? If it is QF is it a classic award or an any seat award?

I don't think it is good news. Classic awards are not upgradeable.

Apparently if a bus class reward seat comes up I can use points to upgrade but flight date is sep 25. Is there a optimal time to ring when this might happen. Eg a week out, 2 days out etc etc.
As I said I'm a rookie so I really have no idea (still trying to work out all the J and y etc terminology:?:

Have you tried to change the flight from manage my booking, but change to the same flight in business. Then see what the points cost come out to be.

Just tried that as you suggested and I guess because it is a point booking the 'Change' button is greyed out
