Upgrades Pre/Post changes

Hello FFers...
I am flying from Singapore to Sydney on the 4th January 2015 with my partner.
I booked the flights pre the recent QFF changes and requested an upgrade to J pre the changes.
Since its a saver fare and not a sale fare the upgrade 'cost' in points is now less or at least it should be.
Will the upgrade be charged at the new points rate or the old points rate if it goes ahead?
Show I cancel the upgrade and then reapply so it does go through at the new reduced rate?

I spent a few weeks attempting to put in an upgrade request for an upcoming flight on QF22. The website kept failing.
I was asking the QF twitter team something else and asked them about the upgrade. They said to message them the details and they'd do it. They didn't.
It was included in an email to QFFF last week. They mentioned that they had done it (for 30,000 points), but it doesn't appear to show up on the new MMB as it did on the old version.

Prior to the changes all economy fare buckets, except Y, were classed as Discount Economy, therefore Y- to J on SIN-SYD would have cost you 40,000 points. It was 25,000 points if your ticket was in the Y fare bucket. Note that some heavily discounted fare buckets are not upgradeable at all.

Post changes, economy fare buckets Y, B and H now qualify as flexible (full) economy and hence 25,000 points. All other fare buckets will cost 40,000 again noting that certain fare buckets are not upgradeable.

SIN-SYD is approx 3910 miles so it falls into Zone 5 on both the tables you have linked to, both of which confirm what I have stated above.

Once you know your fare bucket, which you can check in MMB, you will know how many points it is going to cost you.

The grey area is if you happen to be booked into the B or H fare buckets. If you are, then it is not clear whether QF will treat those as Discount Economy, since you booked before the changes, or whether some spirit of generosity will now class them as Flexible Economy. That said, and I might be wrong here, I don't think a Saver Fare would include B or H, so you should bank on paying 40,000 per pax for your upgrade, assuming that the QF Upgrade Lottery falls in your favour.

What is the booking class?

As far as I am aware Saver is still classed as Economy for international flights.

A few weeks ago I booked a SYD-HKG return Saver which booked into S class. I can request an upgrade for 40,000 points each way.

Flexible economy would be B, H and Y and I do not believe these are Saver.

Just out of interest if you booked O, N, Q class international and they send out an email offering upgrades is this at the same rate as Economy or would it require more points to upgrade?

When will the next email upgrade offering be sent out for O, N and Q.

Last year there was a big one in June (this also occurred the year before).

This year there haven't been any I don;t think?

I had to hit the "upgrade" button maybe 30-40 times last night to be given the upgrade dialogue three times (our travel team kept changing my booking so I had to keep re-submitting the request). The times it didn't work it said something like "there is something wrong with this booking, please call". It's lodged as "requested" now on the booking.

Confident of course that I won't get the upgrade, Qantas have never once upgraded me on an international flight in 18 years flying with them, but I still pretend that requesting it makes a difference.

My question to the OP, have reduced upgrade costs been announced? In theory some upgrades should decrease but I hadn't heard any confirmation, besides B and H fares as announced.
