Upgrades on EVA using Star Alliance points and EVA points

I am hoping someone might be able to assist with my query relating to which FF program to put on my reservation.

I am about to book a flight from BNE-TPE on EVA for July 2025. Will book upgradeable economy so will seek to use points to upgrade both legs if possible. Will book direct through EVA website.

FF status is silver on EVA and gold on AC (thanks to HSBC Star Alliance card). When flying on EVA there is no difference in terms of luggage entitlement with either FF getting one extra bag. Lounge access will vary but I can always display gold card if necessary to secure access.

The challenge I have is how to manage the upgrade requests. I have access to EVA points sufficient for one upgrade and Star Alliance points (Air Canada) for the other. I'm not sure which FF I should put on the booking at the point of purchase.

I choose AC for the HSBC Card as it gave 50,000 bonus points and had a relatively long period of status. I think if I wish to use Star Alliance points for the upgrade on EVA I'll need to convert them and this may require changing my program for earning and potentially remove the AC status I had obtained.

Using the EVA miles to upgrade will be easier if I ticket using EVA FF but I think more difficult to use the AC miles. I assume the opposite would also be true.

Does anyone have any suggestions for how we should proceed in this situation?
