Upgrade to *Class

We are flying MEL-SYD-HNL return in May and just wondering if anyone knows if you can request an upgrade to *Class in Melbourne or whether this still has to happen once you reach Sydney. Last year we had to do at Sydney at a cost of $300 pp...anyone know if this is still the same?

From memory it is now $400 per person and I think you need to request the upgrade to StarClass in SYD as you will more than likely be using QF check-in in MEL. There are a number of threads that may provide the information you need.

Just to advise that our claim for points after upgrading to *Class at Sydney to Honolulu and return has been denied by Qantas. I guess it was a long shot but after being successful last year was hoping it would get through. Still seems to be a lot of discrepancy around this system though and also the payment for upgrade. At Sydney we were told that the cost now was $500 pp which we paid (last year $300) and the return we got for US$165.00 each. On the original base fare that we paid it was still cheaper than paying for *class on the original booking, at the time we booked we were also entitled to the 2 x 32Kilo luggage allowance which has since changed to 1 x 20Kg. I understand that Hawaiin Airlines still allow the 2 x 32kgs so next holiday may look at flying with them for a change unless we can get a super deal with JS.
