Looks like an interesting sub-system. Basically a single place to manage all credits that you hold with VA - this includes credit from cancellations, compensation and so on. (Qantas manages all of these through Manage My Bookings, but unlike Travel Bank you can't merge multiple Qantas credits into one).

Actually, what will be interesting to see is exactly how VA credit will work under Travel Bank.

I don't know about VA, but at QF when you cancel a ticket that creates a credit, you normally can't combine this with other credits because of the fare conditions of the original fare which "created" those credits in the first place. In particular, the restriction that the new fare must be equal or higher than the value of the original fare.

Say you have cancelled a Domestic Saver and a Domestic Business Saver, which ends up in Travel Bank. Can you combine the two, and if so, which fare conditions will be "inherited" into the new fare, if applicable?

I guess I may have completely misunderstood the credit system under VA (which is different to that at QF or other airlines)...

Given Travel Bank is a sabre product, I imagine it won't be too different to other airlines that use it (e.g. JetBlue and Virgin America both have travel banks)

I think VA credits are more flexible and can simply be used towards any new flight booking, unlike Qantas which imposes more restrictions.

I have used multiple credits to make new bookings, there are no restrictions on the fare and can be used for all fare classes. They waive the call centre fee and honour internet fares if its a compensation credit, but if you chose to cancel it then you pay the phone fee and call centre rates. The only restriction is they are valid for 12 months from booking date
