Just got an email from the Qantas Advisory Panel with a survey "helping us develop the Qantas website to make it as user friendly as possible."

Survey consisted of asking a what/where would you go to question and provided an image map of a proposed site home page to click on.

They appear to be focused on the header bar. Some of the categories on the example provided were a bit ambiguous.

The categories on the current site seem more straight forward then in the proposal presented in the survey.

I hate the new website. Take me back to the site cira 2005. It was functional and easy to use.

There's so many glitches in it now - especially if using from a mobile device.

As someone who quotes differing itineraries particularly in the multi city tool quite a bit, it drives me freaking bananas the number of glitches.

Every airline site needs to take note of google flights. The UI is ahead of pretty much everything else in leaps and bounds. Including the multi airport features.

I have the same, but have yet to complete it.

Not sure I like the new website design, but I sure do like that sale price in J to LHR!

Qantas multi-city tool hasn't changed in years, hasn't it?

Besides, it's being rebuilt anyway with a new one to match the rest of the site coming out 'soon'

Actually, they changed over to a new multi-city booking engine a few weeks ago.

I hate the new design - so much so that I've saved the URL of the old engine, which thankfully still works.

I've done a couple of these "website redesign" surveys - the latest I think was to see how easy it is to navigate. I certainly got lost and I've used the darn thing for years - not at all intuitive.

They need to use the KISS principle and make it easy for someone who doesn't fly often to navigate; currently you need a degree in mind-reading, plus the ability to circumvent the glitches to get where you really want to be.

All these redesigns are not actually making it easier to use, they're just making it look "pretty" - pig, sow's ear anyone. . . :p

Multi-city site has changed. And I didn't think it could get worse but it has. When modifying a search. while now it remembers destinations, if you want to delete say a third segment you have to clear all (there's no way to remove just the third one). And even though it says the class of booking you previously chose, unless you click 'Business' again it will show results for economy. Unbelievably frustrating. And that's before you even consider the stupid and limited connections that actually appear.

I have received the survey and am looking forward to having a say.

exactly. they always seem focused on bells and whistles. Just give me a site that is simple, clear, and as far as humanly possible, glitch-free. And for Christ's sake, get it right and STOP CHANGING IT.

I just want to manage my flights, book new ones, and be able to maybe see what specials are on. It is not rocket science.

This is what they're (trying) to do, and they're testing their updates out by doing user testing like this to see if they'll work.

They need to get a finished version tested too - bits and pieces are a waste of time because looking at a drop-down menu without all the extras is very different to it being in actual use. By all means, test it out and have people give you feedback on parts of it, but seriously - have it tested thoroughly before unleashing it onto the unsuspecting public; nothing worse than using a website that has been "updated" only to find it is even worse than what it has been upgraded from.

I tried to go into the survey over the weekend and it told me that it was closed.

I hate the booking engine which I use frequently. Finally, out of frustration, I offered my extensive software testing background to Qantas to properly test the user experience of the website and report to them the results. They did respond with a thanks but no thanks.

What about it don't you like?

It is inconsistent, the same action results in different outcomes often. I could fill a page with examples but hey Qantas aren't interested so I wont bother.

On the old site it use to show the PE price as well along with the Y pricing, so you could book Y and PE on the same ticket, but now you seen not to be able to do that.... :-(
