I'm travelling business class from Brisbane to Paris via Kuala Lumpur on 31 January with my partner, with a stopover of 8 hours in KLIA.
I booked 6 or so months ago and requested seating for us on both sectors.
I am a Oneworld Emerald, booked 6 or so months ago, and have a screen printout of my seating requests.
I checked in 24 hours ahead and found that all seating requests had disappeared in the system and both sectors had us seated separately – the MH20 sector to Paris had us seated 6 rows apart.
I rang yesterday, 30 Jan, and spoke to an agent who could not understand what had happened. He was able to seat us together, though not in the original seats in the first sector, but there were no options other than seating separately 6 rows away from each other KUL - Paris. All other seats were taken!!!.
He told me to speak to check-in at BNE, who were sympathetic but could do nothing – told me to speak to gate staff at KUL.
I couldn't care if we were in separate seats for a short flight, but 14 hours is a bit much!
I understand that there are situations where seat requests cannot be honoured, but to separate business pax by 6 rows when they are on the same PNR and Elites seems over the top.
Yet MH can do nothing!
To say the least, I am a bit disappointed.
Does anyone have any contacts with MH that I can ring to request help?

Well, I made it to KUL. After several incorrect suggestions, eg check at the Gate, I found some MH agent who, in a few flicks of his fingers, generated seats together. Apparently lost pre selected seating is common. The lesson I leant from this is to do online check in MH flights as soon as they are open!
