United Lounge Melbourne Airport (International) Pictures

Looks rather sterile - maybe it's the effect of photography rather than just being there - but... I guess it's better than the terminal (right?)

Thanks for posting. I've always been interested to see what the UA lounge looks like in MEL - it's one of the few priority pass accessible lounges here in Australia and I had previously heard cough things about it. The food options look spartan and fattening, but Moet lifts the the bar somewhat (even though it's not my favourite tipple). Looks like it's in need of refresh though - some of those seats and tables look seriously '80s.

On another note - a lid on the urinal? WTF?

LOL the united lounge hasn't really changed for years except the green chairs at the back used to be uncomplimented by the worn out lumpy couches in green. The only thing i ever found the lounge had going for it were the angels on the desk who used to look after me seating wise very well.

I thought it was low value but that's by comparison to Qantas of course which is my preferred mode of travel. Unfortunately United came in at $9880 per ticket while Qantas was $13000 so I had to fly United. I just wish Qantas was more competitive on the quote.

If that's what you compare to, but by club standards I think its low value. Just look at the Injet printer, I have better that that in my home let alone a business class lounge.

you have to be strategic with QF and wait for sales

The photography in this post if fairly accurate. If you have been in the Qantas lounge at MEL and then you visit the UA lounge, it definitely feels like you have walked down to the basement and they have found a spare closet to put a lounge in.
Although I went (and regrettably paid) to the UA lounge in SFO and sure the alcohol is free, but that's probably the highlight. I thought rather than paying for Wifi at the airport and buying overpriced food, I'd pay for club access. Yes the internet was free but the food at MEL club seemed like a banquet compared to the nibbles at SFO.

But, united is cheaper, I'd fly with them again, but you get what you pay for (possibly a little bit less)

What are UA loads like MEL/SYD-SFO&LAX? I don't know many who fly them and even fewer who like them.

Don't forget that UA elites have a pretty good system in getting upgrades. In fact, even UA elites complain it's tough getting an upgrade on these flights.

For whatever it is worth, getting UA F or J award seats on the Star Alliance partners on the UA Trans-Pacific is really, really difficult.

Operating hours are again?
Would it be better to burn a PRIORITY PASS here or in LAX?
