G'day,

Just two quick questions.

Firstly I am a Virgin Blue Velocity member and I would like to know, do I earn points if I fly United (MEL-LAX). I only ask because when booking the flight online, Virgin Blue comes up in the drop down menu for Frequent Flyer programs.

2) Secondly, Does United give on departure upgrades for additional cost when checking in?

Thanks

1. No, United arent a partner of Velocity, i'm not sure what site you're using, but it may be for cases where those travelling from other points use DJ to Sydney and would earn pts on the domestic leg.

2. They used to offer upgrades to Y+, not sure what theyre currently offering, perhaps get your agent to check for you with the UA rep.

Thanks for that,

I was booking through the UA australian site and Virgin Blue comes up in the list of Airlines in the frequent flyer drop down list.

Thanks

I would assume its purely for those using DJ to transit from other domestic points to SYD or MEL for the UA service.

If you check on Velocity> Welcome to Velocity Rewards you'll note theres no listing for UA

And on Flyertalk you'll find a huge thread discussing UA cash upgrades....
