United Airlines jet hits severe turbulence while flying over Kansas, injuring pax

An Australian woman has recalled the horror of watching passengers on a US jetliner being thrown around the cabin during violent turbulence.
Kaoma Bechaz, a 19-year-old Melbourne university student, boarded the Los Angeles-bound United Airlines Boeing 777 in Washington DC on Tuesday with 254 other passengers and 10 crew but, when the plane flew above Kansas, mayhem broke loose.
The region was in the midst of major thunderstorms and a few slight bumps quickly turned into a severe rollercoaster ride.

Now that must be proof that United is culpable for the injuries sustained.

Hmmm.... begs the question - how much time between the seat belt sign being turned on and the turbulence event...

Even if everyone was strapped in, I'd imagine there'd be a lot of ire people suing or demanding compensation for food/drink being spilt all over them (or perhaps being smacked in the face with such items).

Slightly OT, but somewhat related ; I was just at the bank talking to my account manager and she was retelling a story of flying over to Europe where they had 4 hours of turbulence, and mentioned the plane ran out of sickbags because everyone was using them multiple times:!: :shock:
