I have an upcoming domestic flight to MELB on which I'll have check-in luggage. But I also need to use the "on arrival" lounge for some work and won't be able to exit and collect my luggage.

Just wondering if it's possible to collect it from the lost luggage area later, and if anyone had it go missing considering domestic carousels are open public areas. Thanks.

Forgive me, but I don't use on arrival lounges, but can't you collect your bags, put them in a storage locker, then go back in to the lounge?

Collect the luggage and take it to the lounge if it has nothing that blocks it from security, really only an extra few minutes.

Coming out and storing it in a luggage locker is a good idea, will try time permitting.

Can't bring it into transit because it's a large bag, that's why I'm checking in.

Pretty sure security will clear it after awhile? Can't imagine it staying on there for a couple of hours.

There was a period where I was landing in PER and had 4 hours until a charter flight, I regularly took a full sized suitcase back through security to utilise on arrival access to the Dom J Lounge- it was never an issue

I've done this on arrival at SYD and picked up the bag from the QF baggage services desk.
Not sure I'd be game to do it with anything I couldn't afford to lose.

I once accidentally left the airport in SYD without my checked luggage. (I almost always fly HLO on domestic flights and completely forgot about the bag I'd checked in that time!) I'd almost made it home when I realised I was missing something.

Returned to the airport and the bag was still going around on the carousel more than an hour later. I wouldn't assume this will always happen though.

I recall this from a while back. I dont know if they ever caught the person.
Dont know if its still a thing but it would be one of those things in the back of my mind id worry about.

The luggage gets taken off the carousel after 20-25 minutes (sometimes earlier) and will be at baggage services.

You'll generally get a call asking your whereabouts.
