Attempted to book a QF award for short domestic US hop over the weekend and was unable to do so online. Plenty of availability. Called QF and was told yes the inventory was there however AA had temporarily removed the ability to book awards using QF points.

I didn't bother to HUACA and instead used AA points however I had not heard of this "enhancement".

The phone agent did not know when we would be once again be able to book AA awards with QF points.

Have I missed a recent announcement?

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

Do you know if AA have blocked any other partners? If QF has been singled out, that is very concerning!

I didn’t think you could use QFF points to book awards on AA.com.
You are correct.
However up until yesterday you were able to use QF points to book and AA award (and other partners) using your QF points via QF.

Sorry I should have spelled it out clearer however i didn't think anyone here would try and book an AA flight on AA.com using QF points....

@snabbu At what point did the booking process fail?

I did some searches for same route plus date and was able to see the similar offerings flights, but not all the same. For this search AA is returning some direct flight options but only indirect options came up with QF:

It failed after the confirmation of flights/passengers/etc with a qantas generic error 15012 - 104 (I think that was the code anyway).
I attempted the booking three or four times using different flight segments and each time the same error code. I googled the error and found some reference to the QF engine having issues with booking AA flights which made sense as they each use a different GDS.
As I could see the segments available both via the QF site and the AA site I was pretty sure the availability was there so I called QF, gave them the website error and asked them to book it for me.
It was then that the consultant said AA have stopped QF members being able to book AA award flights with QF points.

I didn't argue and had a bit of a chuckle with the operator and left it at that. Went to aa.com and booked the award I was after.

Thanks for the feedback; interesting.

AA have stopped it? Maybe Qantas haven't been paying AA for QFF award redemptions recently?

Not enough AA members redeeming QF flights to offset?

that's a situation to which I am considering wandering

I have been having no trouble booking award flights on QF throuh aa.com.

Just booked a QF flight on aa.com. No issues other than the CC had to match the name of the (aa) account holder.
I did check availability on QF --first--.

Planning some wandering

Interesting comparative remarks about being able to book QF flights using AAdvantage.

However, what this thread is about is that it seems that AA flights currently cannot be booked using Qantas Frequent Flyer Points.

I was tempted to complete a booking given the current Qantas policy on no cancel fees on awards but I'm not sure it applies to such a booking.

QF's new VIP Service Team confirmed to me today that AA isn't letting QFF book their awards, even though we can see availability (and it is there). Lovely, keen and super competent agent said it's definitely a known issue and they don't know when it'll be fixed.
Very annoying as I need to lock something in..!

Not sure if related, but I have a SYD-KIX (QF) & HND-SYD (JA) award. Ticket hasn't issued, despite booking over a week ago.

I have a feeling there is a separate issue with ticketing and cancelling.
I was also told that cancelling award tickets online (all of mine are partner award tickets) isn't working if you do it online. Sure, it says cancelled, but it doesn't go to the relevant department for cancellation... the booking just lives on in the background. You need to call in to have it actioned.

An update to this issue - it seems the relationship is back to normal as today I've been able to ticket a QF points redemption on AA metal.
Yes I was also able to do this a couple of weeks ago. Not sure how long it’s been fixed for though.
