Does anyone know where in Australia I can buy a UK simcard for my phone - before I travel. I can't remember where I've got them from before! And it's useful to be able to leave the new number with family rather than waiting until arrival.

I work for a company that does UK and USA based SIM cards (one card with two phone numbers) for competitive prices.

I make no money from endorsing them, as I'm not in sales there but I like to try and help out people on here (as frequent travellers tend to like to help each other out).

ekit, phonecards, prepaid sim cards and international cell phones for international travelers is where you'll find the info. The SIM cards also include a toll-free forwarding service, that people back here can use. They call a 1800 number, enter in your UK or US mobile number, and get connected to you. They don't pay, and you pickup the charge (which is still not that expensive).

Also, if you look in the "Travel Insider Tips" forum here there is a sub-forum Labeled "Communication & Internet" which people have discussed this before.

Try 3 like home

3 offers services all around the world and that's why we offer 3 Like Home in UK, Hong Kong, Ireland, Italy, Sweden, Austria and Denmark, where you pay the same rate as you would back home. FREE incoming calls and messages to your 3 mobile

Be careful with this. If you read the FAQ's you'll notice that the calls are not included in your cap, and often cap calls can be around $1.50 per minute (hence $600 value for $50 or something, cause you're being incremented at prices of $1.50/minute). Calls to 3 phones are $0.35 per 30 seconds with a 0.25 flagfall.

It makes it a lot cheaper than some roaming options, but it's still far from cheap. look at the FAQ's for the '3 like home' here http://ask3.three.com.au/answer/SRV...Public,ts=customerss,t=main,varset_ref2=76749

The main cost saving here is the fact you don't pay for inbound calls, which our products also do for various countries, depending on the product you purchase from us. It also gives you the benefit of having a local number when travelling, which can save a lot of headaches.
