Vote Leave Chief now admits Brexit may have been an error.

One of the masterminds behind the Brexit vote has performed an astonishing U-turn by admitting that leaving the EU may be “an error”.
Dominic coughmings, the Vote Leave campaign director, described the referendum as a “dumb idea” before other ideas had been tried to win back powers from Brussels. He has also warned that Brexit is shaping up to be a “guaranteed debacle”, without big changes in Whitehall to deliver a successful negotiation.

Yes Britain is now a dead horse. IIRC their were rumours a Melbourne Cup favourite ended up becoming pet food at the nearby abattoir at Kensington.

Is Britain now just dog food?

Brexit and aviation: UK airline access to EU markets to diminish, as airlines prepare for the worst - CAPA

In spite of UK Transport Secretary Chris Grayling's continued assertion that he will seek "the best possible access to European markets" for UK airlines, this access is increasingly likely to be less liberal than now. The European Commission has made it clear that the UK will leave the single aviation market when it leaves the EU, possibly after a limited transition period yet to be agreed.

Future UK-EU traffic rights are likely to be governed by a new bilateral similar to the EU-US and EU-Canada deals. The UK's participation in EU deals with third countries will also cease, but Mr Grayling is confident that the UK can replace them with new bilaterals (although these seem unlikely to give UK airlines the right, for example, to fly to the US from elsewhere in Europe).

Meanwhile, Ryanair has warned that the UK government is underestimating the likelihood of flight disruptions to/from the UK. It has followed Wizz Air in applying for a UK AOC as a contingency. EasyJet is setting up a new UK subsidiary alongside the European one established in 2017 in an effort to be both a UK and an EU operator.

Little more than 13 months before the UK's departure, clarity is needed urgently.

The fact is, no one will know the outcome until it happens. Lots of sabre rattling going on. But the UK isn’t on the nose as much as the press say it is. The tourist and retirement £ is too valuable for Europe to ignore.

Agreed! All the popular holiday spots in Europe can’t afford to exclude a 40+ million market. Nor can the USA. Or indeed inbound traffic from those markets. i would think this would be one of the first things to be resolved.

I can almost predict that while airlines will want the full benefits currently enjoyed by EU membership, they’ll be very keen to ditch things like EU261!

Well said. This is just the EU leaders with a vested interest in their own careers scaremongering. Neither the EU nor the UK can afford a sour relationship post Brexit. It's high time the petulant, overpaid, children in Brussels grew up and started handling the negotiations with maturity and dignity.

Oh wait, they are career civil servants who have never been voted in by anybody, anywhere in the EU.
