UK and Europe 4 month sojourn!

From Dunkirk we caught the train to Lille and then the Eurostar to London. We did an all day walking tour starting at Westminster Abbey and finishing at the Tower of London. I didn’t realise how big Westminster Abbe was And that there are about 3,300 people buried there! These include members of the royal family, clergy and well known or famous people (Isaac Newton, Charles Darwin, Stephen Hawking, Charles Dickens, Rudyad Kipling to name a few). It was jam packed with people and too hard to get decent photos unfortunately.

Though I did manage to get one of the Unknown Warrior from WW1 and also the Coronation Chair which was used for King Charles coronation.

Thanks for TR! I know it is a huge effort to write up...lazy people like me have not posted a trip report for years!
@kpc a question if I may please.
I have found my way around AFF for comments, posts and reactions but haven't worked out how to start a new thread/ do a trip report.
Any tips, happy for any input via here or DM, thanks.

Forgot to mention that we did a restaurant bus around Paris when we were there. There are different companies but we used Bus Toque. They have different time and meal options and goes for between 1 1/2 to 2 hours depending on time selected. We did the 105 euro and had three courses and two glasses of wine (a Chardonnay which was nice and a red but can’t remember what sort). Food was very nice and would recommend.

Starter was fish carpaccio which was 😋

Next up was the main of Guinea Fowl. Again very nice.

Bath was such a pretty place and the Roman baths in their time would have been something pretty special. They had people to massage you, remove dead skin, manicure you and even pluck hair! The water temperature was over 40 degrees so I don’t know how anyone could stay in the water too long 🥵

From London we headed to Liverpool by train where we currently are but will be leaving on the 21st for Ireland. Liverpool is a lovely place and more relaxed than London (plus heaps cheaper!). It was cold and raining when we arrived and we had a wet walk to out hotel. And this is supposed to be summer!IMG_0112.png

Our first morning didn’t look promising but did clear in time for our Beatles Magical Mystery bus tour.

I won’t bore you with detail but we went to the houses of all four Beatles, Penny Lane, Strawberry Field and finished at the Cavern Club.

Looks like a typical Liverpool summer's day! (I grew up in a small seaside town about 20 miles away).
I think you've already left but if you're ever back there's a National Trust tour you can book on to go inside Paul and John's houses (you do have to book ahead though as there are limited spots): The Beatles' Childhood Homes | Liverpool

I've never been but my folks have and it was highly recommended (mum grew up very close to Paul's house on Forthlin Road around the same time he did so it was particularly appreciated by her).

Enjoying the TR. Keep it coming!

Thanks @MattA and apologies for the delayed reply. We were told about the national trust tour but unfortunately we didn’t have enough time. I really liked Liverpool. It had a such a nice and relaxed feel, especially after being in London where it was so busy.
