Have never used Uber before, so am hoping someone can assist with a few queries.

We're heading to the US in a few weeks and looking at using Uber for getting around LA etc. Hubby bought a Samsung Galaxy Rush about 18 months ago when he was in the US and had it on prepaid with T-Mobile - it's a CDMA phone (no SIM card) locked to the T-Mobile US network, the phone's not currently active so the original number allocated to it has probably long been recycled, but we will reactivate it on a prepaid T-Mobile account for a month when we arrive in the US. We've downloaded the Uber app to the phone. So the question is: Should I set up the Uber account through the website before we leave with my Australian mobile number (I just have a basic calls/text mobile, not a smartphone) just to get the account up and running, payment details set up etc and then change it to the US mobile number when we get there? (we won't know what number will be allocated to the phone until we reactivate it, which can't be done until we're back in the US). I'd read that a lot of people have trouble verifying their phone numbers with Uber when the SMS verification won't work, especially with prepaid phones in the US, so am concerned about having issues with this as well (both here and in the US).

Any advice or information would be greatly appreciated :)

I'd do it before you go, it isn't linked to your phone number so you can have it in use in multiple devices simultaneously without a problem.

If you want a signup credit of $20 you can use the below link also ;)

Thanks for that - I probably will set it up before we go, I'd rather get all my payment details etc entered via a secure network at home rather than on a wireless network in a hotel somewhere!
