I haven't had a chance to use Uber in Sydney yet, but the service in San Francisco is superb. I cannot praise Über highly enough. So much easier than Taxis. I especially love being able to just get out at the destination; no fiddling with cash to pay.

Indeed but what is the definition of a new "user". Is this one of those you can use a different email address and be a new user multiple times?

Can everyone in the household sign up? Do you think they match by pickup address?

When you sign up you need to provide email, phone number and credit card. They could probably match on any of them.

Thanks for the info. Gave it a try and worked out as $9 from Bondi into the City. Was a good service.
Would probably not use them again due to cost, however maybe on special occasions or when they have further specials.

Good to know it worked out for you. It's probably a better service in the bay area (Given they started over there), but they should improve with time. As I understand it, they're pitching the black cars as a premium taxi service, but they have a few other options for more budget-concious travellers... Hopefully it won't be too long before those other options are available in Australia.
