Recently NASA ran a Global Hawk UAV in our region and was expected to enter our controlled airspace from time to time:

This prompted a CASA article that makes for interesting reading on how the industry is coping with this change

Over 100 unmanned operators on CASAs books indicates the use of devices is getting more popular, it will be interesting to see what impact if has on safety.

From 45,000 to 65,000 they must be lonely.

You would be surprised at whats up there at times, often departing from a military airfield. Concorde used to sit up there as well, it was always funny to here them on the flight service frequencies along with the low flying Cessna's etc who probably were not used to sharing the frequencies with a Speedbird.
