Ua mileage plus merge w continental one pass

A couple of things:

1. Does anyone know what United's rules are in reltaion to moving miles between family members? I want to use my points to secure upgrades for my family and need to know if I can move miles from my account to family members accounts that are short the required miles.

2. Read a bit aboout Continental Airlines merging with United sometime soon and wanted to know what will happen with One Pass miles - will they be transferred to Mileage Plus 1 for 1? Does anyone know b/c it's near impossible to find info on this anywhere online.

It can be quite expensive to transfer miles between Mileage Plus accounts and you can only transfer a maximum of 15,000 in any one calendar year (see United Airlines Transfer Miles program).

In relation to your point number 2, UA and CO are NOT merging (there was a tentative proposal put forward some time ago), so you cannot move miles between One Pass and Mileage Plus (but you should be able to redeem your One Pass miles for a Star Alliance award).
