UA and Star Gold

HI All,
The GF and I are travelling to HNL from LAX on a UA767-300 and understand that this aircraft has Ecconomy Plus. We are on a redemption through BMI and I have Star Gold Status. Is UA good to alliance members with status and automatic upgrades to Ecconomy Plus?

I understand that nothing is a hard and fast rule, only looking for opinions and comments.

I undertand that Ecconomy Plus is only a few extra inches :mrgreen: but as we know it can make all the difference.

I am also holding out hope that seats will open up at the front of the cabin as well. I paid J points for the ICN-LAX leg so can move up, I just need two seat!

In asking about E+ on UA (as an NZ *Gold) I have always found the staff friendly, helpful and ready to let me pay the standard E+ upgrade price for the route...:mrgreen:

Other folks have reported better luck... but it is just that. E+ is not a *G perk. That IS policy.

OTOH I have found UA to be entirely correct in providing those things that ARE legit *G benefits... Biz check in, lounge access, baggage allowance etc..

Good luck with the waitlist!!! That would be a much better result!

P.S. It looks like the E+ from SFO-OGG was $64 in December.... If I was flying LAX-HNL and was offerred it for around that price.. I'd take it.....:mrgreen:

Just flew SFO-LAX with UA, went to business check in and asked for a better seat. Got E-plus without hinting at it with my SQ-G. They even did a through check for me to my C class Asiana flight. However, I am now in MNL and my luggage is in Reno Nevada. So nothing is free.
