Just received a rather official email from [email protected]

U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) hopes you have enjoyed your stay in the United States. As a reminder, temporary visitors must comply with their terms of admission, and depart the United States on or before your admit until date. Our records show your admission will expire within the next 10 days.

You can visit https://I94.cbp.dhs.gov for additional information regarding your I-94 (Record of Admission), your admit until date, and other frequently asked questions. You will need your name, date of birth and passport number to access the information.

Initially I thought it was a phishing attempt but it is legit. Independently finding the link on the DHS website I entered my details and sure enough as well as displaying all of me entry/exits since 2013 they also show that they don't have record of my most recent departure in June this year which has allowed this to trigger coming up to 90 days since entry.

The website reassuringly says to ignore it as it is known not to be complete.

A check on my recent travel companion (Mrs Albatross) shows that it is recorded for her.

Presumably something has gone missing from my departure flight.

I will be re-entering the USA in October, so probably I might get an additional question and will rely on my tripit log plus the fact I am 'entering' the USA. Doesn't seem any way to 'correct' or prompt it for correction. No passport stamps from Australian June entry.

Anyone have any experience that I should take on board?

Isn't there a way on the CBP site to submit updates/corrections for missing records?

If this happens to me, I'll be able to point to the following EU and JP stamps in my passport. With just the return to AU, you won't be able to do that. I can only suggest taking the boarding pass for your last US-AU flight.

CBP asks for this from people who forgot to hand in their white I-94 exit paperwork (which people on the VWP/ESTA don't get) to return the I-94 to a US address along with the following:
  • Original boarding passes that you used to depart another country, such as Canada, if you took a flight from there;
  • Photocopies of entry or departure stamps in your passport indicating entry to another country after you departed the United States (you should copy all passport pages that are not completely blank, and include the biographical page containing your photograph); and
  • Photocopies of other supporting evidence, for example:
- Dated pay stubs or vouchers from your employer to indicate that you worked in another country after your departure from the United States,
- Dated bank records showing transactions that indicate you were in another country after you left the United States,
- School records showing school attendance outside the United States to indicate that you were in another country after leaving the United States, and
- Dated credit card receipts, showing your name (without showing the credit card number) for purchases made after you left the United States to indicate that you were in another country after leaving the United States.

Thanks for this. I'll show them my bank transactions if asked. Once the points had posted for the previous departure I binned the BP.

Thanks for the info.
