I am so surprised this wasn't posted earlier - didn't I hear at 07:00 this morn that QF have cancelled all flts into HKG? Or was that premature promulgation?

This looks like a pretty close call, they don't usually track this close

Yes QF did put out a media release about this via its usual channels including facecrap

I think most AFF are abreast of contemporaneous news most of the time but there's only so many hours in a day to allocate. So news like these sometimes get acknowledges post mature

chicka had her flight cancelled for her weekend getaway, but will now be there Sunday to Wednesday instead as QF were willing to change her return too.

Seems very late in the season for Typhoons? Booked to travel to HKG this coming week on QF127...

In fact we are smack bang in the middle of typhoon season. It generally starts around June July and lasts until November December with most typhoons in July-Sept.

Hong Kong Typhoon Season

That actually confirms that mid/late Oct is at the backend of the season. It's possible but would appear unlikely to see one in Nov. In fact the graph highlights that Nov/Dec have "the best weather".

Alas, that may all change with Global Warming ramping up!

Yes even the IPCC admits that the trend for Pacific Typhoons, cyclones is less.

Hong Kong Typhoon Season

In my past experience, it is very unlikely for typhoons to come to HK in November/December. The latest I have experienced in October. June-Sept is most regular.
