I'm flying to Northern Italy (Verona) and happen to have TWO tickets for odd reasons.

1. Singapore Airlines to Singapore
2. Alitalia to Northern Italy (but the first two flights are actually Etihad through to Rome).

There is about a 5 hour gap between flights (returning is no problem i have several days gap).

Questions ...

1. At departure here in OZ, will they be able to route my luggage all the way through to Northern Italy (Verona)
2. If NO to the above, will I be able to go to the transfer desk inside the airport and have them do it (without having to go thru passport, collect and check back in)

Thanks.

Yes you should be able to through check luggage from Singapore Airlines to Etihad, their policy will allow through checking on separate tickets as long as they have such an agreement with the onwards carrier. They do have such an agreement with Etihad.

No (aside from the fact that they also have agreement with Alitalia) what is important is who is operating the flight - Alitalia is just “marketing” the flight, and SQ are sending the luggage to an Etihad plane at Singapore.
